Sarah Hough

Participation and Research Officer

Sarah joined Groundswell in December 2018 after completing the ‘From The Ground Up’ journalism course with the Pavement magazine and Groundswell. Sarah is a qualified youth worker and has worked with young people in both statutory and voluntary capacities. Through her work with young people, Sarah recognises the need for stable long term accommodation and is aware of the many barriers to this, she is delighted to be working for Groundswell. Her own experience of homelessness has strengthened her resolve and determination . Sarah has a passion for writing poetry, rap lyrics and sound engineering and she is excited to bring these creative skills to her current role.

She was Research Project Officer for three years and was the Communications Officer between October 2022 and March 2025.

Sarah now works across Creating Change and Progression teams, leading research projects and supporting volunteers. She has an audio, research and comms background and is also the founder of Killing the Stigma audio productions specialising in podcasts and sound design.
Sarah uses her creative skills to lead a creative group at Groundswell supporting volunteers wellbeing and developing/support creative interests.
